December 4, 1995 in Armenia adopted a law on administrative and territorial division.One of the 11 named Armavir marz, on behalf of one of the capitals of Armenia. 
 Marz covers 3 areas - Armavir, Echmiadzin and Bagramyansky.

In a homogeneous population of marz, mostly inhabited armyaanami: From national minorities in Marz live asiriytsy, Kurds and sparse Russian. 
Armavir marz is situated in the western territory of the republic .. To the north is bordered by Marz of Aragatsotn, from the east - with the capital,  from the south - east - to the Ararat region, and from the west, it borders with Turkey. 
On the territory of the Armavir region's smallest republic. HERE, in the middle reaches of the river Araks built so far the only road bridge / in the vicinity of the village Margara / connecting the Republic of Turkey. The length of the border with Turkey, 130,5 km, covers eight communities with a population of 34.3 thousand.  / 12.1% of the population of the marz. 
The only river that begins in the territory of the marz, UTB river Metsamor /Sevjur/.  River begins with Lake Ayhr.  The only large influx Metsamor a river Kasakh. 
Spring water Kasakh and cross-border Araks overflow the banks and causing much destruction. 

Climate sunny, dry, windless, with a long fall. Winter is relatively cold, in January the average temperature of -100 C to-200C, and hot in summer, in July the average temperature of + 280 C to +330 C, / max +410 C, / 

Marz 1242 sq km area is 4.2% of the RA population, 284.5 thousand. / 8,7% RA /, of which urban 101.7tys. pers. / 35.8% of the population of marz, rural-182.8 thousand people. / 64.2% of the population of marz /

The total length of roads in the territory of the marz contemplate 595.3 km of which are interstate roads, 109.0 km of national importance - 96.1 km, regional -279.9 km road between the communities -110.3 km. 

Marz has 3 urban / Armavir, Vagarshapat, Metsamor, / and 94 rural communities. 
Regional center is the Armavir, former Hoktemberyan / 33.6 thousand inhabitants / - One of the young and growing city of Armenia. The city has a central location in the Marz and is located on the highway Yerevan Vagarshapat-Aragats-Gyumri. The city is located on the 44th kilometer of the north-west of Yerevan. 
Resourceful in the fertile Ararat valley, at the crossroads of the international caravan trade routes, over time Armavir became one of the important administrative, economic, religious, walled cities of the state of Urartu. 
Today in Armavir operates 10 secondary schools, 3 technical schools, 2 colleges, art and music school stadium <Jubilee>, outpatient clinics, a university, two private television stations, printing, communications center and an advanced telephone service node of international communications, hotels. 
During the ice time of great growth rates have purchased trade, urban development and small business. 
First the general project of the city was developed by a group of architects led by the famous Alexander Tamanian. 

Vagarshapat-Echmiadzin located 20 km west of Yerevan.
In the marz and in the life of all Armenians on its unique value is the city Vagharshapat.Very unique city with its spiritual and cultural value. In this aspect the city shall not be construed as an all-Armenian Republican center, because here is the Cathedral of St..Echmiadzin. At the Cathedral Seminary acts that prepare for the priests of the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian diaspora.
The main trend in the production of a manufacturing activity is dominated by the production of cement, lime, and asbestos.
  The city has University, 14 middle schools, 20 kindergartens and nurseries, music and art schools, sports schools, a cinema and two houses of culture.
 In Vagharshapat operates a national museum, the house - museum Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, Museum of Manuka Abeghyan, vernissage name of the artist-sculptor Khoren Ter-Arutyana.  The city has a research institute of agriculture.  It built the first paper mill, opened the first armyaanskaya school.
Currently Vagarshapat is one of the most beautiful cities of the country with a unique orhitekturoy.
 Thanks to the Cathedral of the Holy Echmiadzin city became one of the most interesting places for tourists and visitors to the republic.

   City Metsamor / population okolo10, 3 th / is located 38 km away from Yerevan.  Urban area was populated with V millennium BC  to the VIII millennium BC
  The current Metsamor known to the ANPP, who with his size and power only in the South Caucasus.
Since 1969, the industrial community grew up in the city / s1995 years / with a population of 10,3 thousand people, with its universities, schools, health institutions, cultural and sporting complexes.
 More recently, the city was built the beautiful church of St. Lazare with its magnificent gardens.
